Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage – Review
28 de Fevereiro de 2009
Yesterday I completed Fallout 3 ( and what an end! ) and I was sad that the game just ended there, it doesn’t let you explore the world anymore. But no worries, I just loaded a save game and then started playing from there.
After a few hours of gameplay I got bored. Then, I remembered that there was a new mini-expansion that I haven’t tryed yet!
After updating and installing I launched the game. As said in the instructions you need to go to the Wasteland and stay there a few minutes, then you’ll receive a private broadcast that will give you a new quest.
After I killed a few Raiders on my way I was hopping for a peaceful place. But, nah! There was a small war going between the Super Mutants and a special division of the Brotherwood of Steel.
After we finished killing all the Mutants an officer noticed me and sent me down, to their base, to talk to a superior officer. He lead me to another person that told me what was going on. I’m not telling you guys what is it because it might ruin your gameplay and I don’t want that.
I entered the simulator ( since I had the Pipoy 3000 ) and after I “woke up” a private started talking to me and told me that I should infiltrate in the Chinese base to destroy the big cannons. And so I did it…
After the mission was complete I “woke up” in the General’s HQ and got myssel promoted to Lieutenant ( WORRRAYYYY! ). He explained me the mission and told me that I should get a team to kill all the Yellows ( Chinese’s ).
Me and my team did the missions and completed the simulation.
Then I woke up ( this time in the “real world” ). I went to the big armored door and opened it, it was an armory. I got a new Power Armour ( which was pretty cool ), a Chinese Stealth Suit ( which makes you invisible when crouched ), some new and big guns, an Electric Sword and some ammo.
Then I got out of the armory with the intention of getting out of there when I was stopped. There was a big argument going on. Then, they started shooting each other. I got my minigun out and shoot the crap out of them all. It was so cool!
So, final toughts. The expansion was cool and it definitely is worth of the money. The only thing that’s bad is that it concentrated very much on the fight and not on the dialogs that we’re used to having in most situations.
I think the next expansion will be better since it concentrated in the Raider and it has lots of moral chooses to make.
Dead Rising ( for Wii )- Review
27 de Fevereiro de 2009
This exclusive Xbox360 third-person zombie game is now coming to the Nintendo Wii and killing zombies in a video game as now a new meaning.
The story start with an investigation scoop in Colorado with the journalist Frank West who doesn’t know what he’s getting in to. While in the helicopter he finds massive crows of zombies in the streets. The government helicopters force him to land in the roof of a shopping mall leaving Frank with 74 hours to complete his story and 3 days to try to survive. But Frank is not alone in the shopping center, he’s with some investigators trying to the find the key of the zombie appearance, some zombie victims and some villains trying to stop his investigation at all costs.
Almost all of the objectives involve rescuing someone or picking an item that’s in one spot and taking it to another. As obvious, there are lots of zombies in between.
With all that carnage and rescuing it’s easy to forget the main objective of the game, to complete Frank’s investigation/story. The photo ability is taken in this version, which is not a very cleaver thing to do since the main objective is to complete an investigation for a journal.
The gameplay has been changed drastically. Melee attacks are still possible and when an enemy is down you can do a combination with the WiiMote that finished the enemy with some crazy hits.
Literally everything in the game could be a weapon but in the Wii version the choices are more limited. The most noticeable upgrade is that there are tons of ammo on the floor to keep the gameplay more easy, while in the 360 it was a little harder to replenish your ammo.
The WiiMote will be ( of course ) to aim and shoot your enemies but it isn’t as simple as it might seem.
The biggest flaw is that the friendly AI just sucks. The zombies are great ( …for a zombie, AH! ) but while you’re trying to escort a friend to another place sometimes it will run straight to piles of zombies or he just walking at all and stays behind.
The graphics, when released in the 360, where great but, as obvious, in the Wii they suck. The script and the voices aren’t very good but they’re enought for casual players.
The game is funny and the gameplay is very good in the Wii but it gets boring really quick.
Dawn of War II – Review
25 de Fevereiro de 2009
Game Trailers.com made a review of Dawn of War II. This astonishing and revolutionary Real Time Strategy game definitely worth’s a look and deserves a place in your game collection.
The single player campaign is great and the story appears in text and voice mode, so no more cutscenes like seen in DOW I, while you’re taking a look at your troops. You start as a small group of Space Marines that are in war with the Eldars, one of the most ancient races in the world of DOW.
Your avantar will be a Seargent that can take dozens of enemies at the same time without dying and to back him up are groups of scouts, snipers and heavies. The game focus on battles and the construction of structures is almost absent.
The campaign in constituted by primary and secondary missions that are always poping-up. Even during missions players are encouraged to explore each map to secure some strategic security assets to help the player during future missions.
The multiplayer modes ditch many of the features found in the campaign. The bases are just a structure, where the units spawn, that can be upgradable and the objective is usually to take strategic points in the map that give the resources necessary to upgrade and maintain you army. In the other, more traditional mode, you have to sneak out and destroy the enemy base. While in SP you can only control the Space Marines, in the MP you can control the Eldar, the Tyranids and also the Orcs.

Halo Wars – Review
24 de Fevereiro de 2009
Halo Wars gives a direct hit on the XBox360 and gives a new idea of Real Time Strategy on this platform without the need of using a keyboard and mouse.
If you’re looking for a real awesome game with much strategy and options this is not a game for you. But if you’re looking for a great action and, very simples, strategy game in the universe of Halo, this IS for you.
The hart of this game is the singleplayer campaign with the focus on constructing bases very fastly and the leave to destroy the enemy base, to excort someone or to provide tactical support to another Halo team ( as well as rescue them ).
The MP experiece isn’t much different from the SP. The only big difference is that you’ll be able to control the Covenant team.
The construction of the base is very simple and straight forward. You just construct a few stuctures ( that are attached to the main base ), and be careful with what you construct, there are only a few spaces to put them, and start producing a super army of Halo soldiers, tank, choppers, jeeps and more.
The cooles feature I’ve found is that you car hijack a vehicle of the opponent and make it your own!
Tenchu: Shadow Assassins
21 de Fevereiro de 2009
Another game for the Wii ( lots of them this weekend, and more to come! ). It kinda nice to play it but it has some major failures in the gameplay but still, it’s worth the money.
It has a nice storyline and some epic moments ( Japanese style! ). It’s a good game to gamers that liked the Hitman series and for all the persons who ever wished they were a ninja!
House of the Dead: Overkill – Review
21 de Fevereiro de 2009
This game is very funny! Constantly dropping “F Bombs”, hot chick on a motorcycles and a guy that doesn’t make sense at all with his bad analogies. Support for up to 4 players and nice gameplay
Blood, violence and swearing are the main element of this game, but still, it’s pretty cool! Desgusting and hilarious at the same time.
Deadly Creatures – Review
20 de Fevereiro de 2009
Deadly Creatures for Wii is a nice game for a casual user. It has nice gameplay, specatcular finishes and some cool animations. The story is nice but it doesn’t feel like you are part of if. It has some camera and element glitched that need to be corrected.
Top MMORPG’s
19 de Fevereiro de 2009
Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games are getting quite popular these days. They already were, but since the launch of Wrath of the Lich King the total of players has been exploding! Why, well because the persons who want to play, play it ( duh! ) the others who don’t have the money get a free alternative! So, let the games begin…
Pay-to-Play MMORPG’s
1º – World of Warcraft: Nothing is relevant to say about this game because it is so famous that are tons of info about it, just google it! This game is played for more than 15 million and it’s awesome!
2º - Lord of The Rings Online: LOTRO is a very good alternative for WoW especially for the ones who liked the movie saga with the same name. With lots of solo content this is a game for PVE lovers and very casual gamers.
3º – Eve Online: This one is also awesome. It’s a Sci-Fi type of game with space ships and such. It has a “very” ( seriously! ) much complex interface and it takes many time to archive perfection. The special about this game is that it is run and managed by real players, forget admins!
4º – Final Fantasy XI: Personaly I don’t like this game very much, I hate too much fantasy! It is considered the 2nd best fantasy MMO right after WoW with a great story, nice gameplay, tons of subscribers and awesome avatars.
5º – Warhammer Online: After WoW this one is my favourite. It has a very nice and easy gameplay, it seems that you’re actually inside the game. Awesome battles, every unit is important and the PVP is impressive. The ability to conquer cities of the enemy to make your army stronger is one of the main points. In my opinion this game as future!
6º – City of Heroes/Villains: Combined these 2 games are the perfect choice for casual gamers. The gameplay is good and the the villans and heroes team are well-balanced. If you liked City of Heroes you have to get Villains. Hardcore players have also a good reason to try this game: it’s ultra-quick PVP!
7º – Age of Conan: This is a very nice game but it doesn’t stand up with the previous ones. With a nice starting area where you can explore the world and the interface of the game by yourself with no worries and a innovating combat system ( that many players didn’t like ) this is a game for collectors.
8º – Dark Age of Camelot: I would surely call this one a “classic”. With all it’s classic MMO features is a must have becouse of it’s steadiest and quality.
9º – The Chronicles of Spellborn: A innovating game with some FPS features ( strange, no? ), a regular interface, a nice story-line, quests and nice armours and clothes for you avatar.
10º – Pirates of the Burning Sea: It isn’t very famouse but it as it’s enjoyments. Like EVE Online this game is too directed and managed by real players and not admins. The players are realy relevant for the action that is something you don’t see in many games.
The list was take from here but all the comments and info were written by me.
The Free-to-Play MMORPG’s list will come on a future post! And if the post turns out to become interesting I’ll create more detailed posts about some of the games. Stay tuned!
